Every May the same ads run: flowers, chocolate, a discount code with a heart on it. None of it belongs to an auto parts chain, and pretending otherwise is how you end up with a chamois in a gift bow. The brief was a Mother's Day spot that didn't borrow someone else's sentiment — one that could only come from an aisle of car care.
We made the product the labour: a dad and two kids secretly detailing mum's car, turning the range into a gift she can drive. Shot fast and close — suds running down a panel, a vacuum head in a kid's two-handed grip, the reveal saved for mum. Not a single product callout anywhere. The work is the pitch, and the family sells it better than a price tag ever could.
A seasonal TVC that gave the category a Mother's Day story it could actually own — no borrowed flowers, no forced sentiment. Eight cutdowns carried it across retail and social, and 320 stores ran it on the floor. One family, one clean car, and an auto brand with something true to say in May that isn't a discount code.
Concept & production: CUT & RUN.
